Music Programming 101: NACC Charting, Playlists, Rotation, & why New Music is So Important

We’ll be talking about all aspects of music programming, and why playing new music is so vital to your station’s existence. We’ll make sure you know why it’s important you’re charting to NACC, and how your peers decide / tabulate what goes on their charts. We’ll also discuss what an add date is, the benefits of a rotation system, and the importance of playlist maintenance (and no, we’re not talking about Spotify…but they’re part of the conversation too!). We’ll drop knowledge and share FREE tools you can use to stay organized and on track musically. We’ll also save time for questions at the end!

THINKING BEYOND THE DIAL: Creating Awareness + Visibility Beyond The FM

You know you need to sound GREAT on air, but we all know there’s more to the story as far as building an audience goes. We’ll talk about best practices when it comes to social media, content creation, and how to diversify your reach when sharing that content with the world. We’ll dig deep into sessions and interviews, and discuss the importance of preparation and promotion in relation to garnering label and artist support. We’ll also discuss numbers, archives and evergreen content for your station. Big picture, it’s all about what creating solid content means to your station’s relationship with artists + labels now, and for the future.

STAY LOCAL! The importance Community Building + Engagement  - Hosted by FairPlay

Working at a NonCommercial Radio station is more than choosing great records to play on air. As a Public Radio Station employee, by default you’re a Public Servant. It’s the station’s responsibility, to speak to the entirety of your community and make sure they’re heard and represented. During this panel we discuss how this type of outreach garners new audiences, and brings new, diverse voices into the conversation. We’ll share how to make sure your playlist, programming and staffing is balanced and diverse, and how community initiatives create opportunities to find partners to support and amplify your organization.
